Creative ways to breakthrough hitting a wall with creativity

Creating isnt always straight forward we all hit a wall, life gets in the way so heres some tips to break that barrier when you do!

Introduction 🌼

Im Cassie behind my brand GypsyJoiCreations.com creator/artist of my products I create by hand with skills I have gathered over the years Im always trying new things, learning new skills thats an art in itself. I branch out where I can always developing my passions and learning always. I have an Etsy shop which has been amazing, also my own blog (thank you for visiting) there are so many ways to put yourself out there to express yourself and put your amazing products out there, your hard work, your time, your effort and dedication to what you do what you believe in but for mostly believing in yourself to do these things standing in your higher authentic self 🌼

But sometimes we hit a wall how do we recover?

“Nothing worthwhile comes easy. Hard work just makes you appreciate it more.”

Nothing is easy or as easy as it may look on social media there are a-lot of artists thriving out there, but remember nothing is uniquely as amazing as you! Your potential and sway in what you do, some artists have moments where they dim their light, feeling like they aren’t original but ideas come from somewhere, they all start with you, even the most successful artists have been inspired by someone or something…

An artist cannot fail; it is a success to be one.” – Charles Horton Cooley. “

What happens when you hit a wall, alittle of my background…

I can relate I have landed myself there plenty of times “hitting a wall” as I have been through so much these past few years its been nail bitingly tough. I have suffered from longterm Chronic Pelvic Pain since having my last baby boy Feb 2021. I have had three major surgery’s all pelvic related one being a hysterectomy for removal of Adenomyosis another for Endometriosis and Adhesions, Pedendal nerve damage, muscular damage from surgery’s and neuropathic pain for all the above. I have lost my mother to cancer Jan 2022, Lost my home to a flood Feb 2022.

I have had to find my strength lose myself and find myself again and again but my passion for creating has been the centre of it all if anything with hard times, it can bring out amazing artwork/creations and we evolve as individuals. You must always believe in yourself, even when the odds are against you.

(These topics will also be blogged on my page GypsyJoiCreations.com) its a diverse blog and a real account of my experience as an creator and also as someone who has and still is over coming chronic pelvic pain. I would of loved to have read real accounts on Adenomyosis, endo and chronic pelvic pain I constantly searched out these topics while experiencing them to find support and other woman’s first hand accounts.

I am creatively always looking for inspiration to fuel my fire to build on my products and always levelling up my game exploring new arts and always trying my best to continue to grow. Sometimes its slow other times its booming but I always keep my head in the knowledge what Im doing what serves me and self expression “you cant put a price tag on that”

“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” – Aristotle.

HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED WHEN YOU FEEL LOST AS AN ARTIST

When it comes to artist motivation, social media the internet has ample promise and motivation. With many insights you just have to search on social media for ideas and tutorials to give you a creative boost, its so amazing the content you can find save and come back to when your ready to go forth with an idea. You can literally be amazing at anything you put your mind to and find hidden talents you never knew you had at the tips of your finger tips. If you ever feel unmotivated search your favourite subject follow a content creator which suits your ideals of what kind of artist you are or aspire to be and feed your mind soak up information and put pen to paper or even better gather your material things you need and get started on the next project. Throwing yourself into something new can lead to anazing growth.

I feel creativity has been confused with a casual generation of ideas. We neglect its association to a real act of creation, the labour of transforming visions into substance.

HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED

By staying motivated we achieve so much in our line of creative work, a healthy flow of energy to reach our quota or for-fill the management of projects. Obviously, artistic effort requires an open and fertile mind, my experience is that the mind is most creative when feed with stimulating ideas and the joy of doing what you love when our minds are constantly flexed the motivation naturally happens to you.

🌼 Decide on an amount of time that you can commit to, and don’t stress too much about how long it is. Even if it is only an hour once a week, commit the time to working on it with the knowledge that you are free to put it away once the scheduled time is over.

🌼 You’ll see that, after a while, finding motivation for your project will come more naturally. Focusing on the process of sitting with your task, rather than on the desired outcome of finishing it quickly I find is super helpful with what Im doing at the time, if your just sales driven you will eventually disappoint yourself do things because you love it the rest will follow and the success you deserve for all your hard work will come in time.

“INSPIRATION IS POSSIBLE BUT IT MUST FIND YOU WORKING.”

HAVE STRUCTURED DAILY GOALS AND WRITE THEM DOWN 🌼

I maintain a fairly consistent schedule throughout the week. My work area is set up in my open lounge dining area right next to the large opening doors to my back deck I get fresh breezes and sun, and I create there most weekdays at exactly the same times, once in the morning and once in the the evening. (I try give myself longer hours on the weekends.) I don’t need to think about gathering my materials or negotiate when I am going to create. It is an automatic part of my daily life. In the long term, I believe it is better to work regularly for shorter periods than to work sporadically at great length. I prefer to keep my projects consistent and not over work my ideas and be more vigilant with smaller goals thats why writing down my plans helps to set me up and do that work tackling children and a busy life outside of Gypsy Joi Creations.

CREATE A STRONG DIRECTION WITH WHAT YOUR TRYING TO ACHIEVE

I don’t like to overwhelm myself, so I set my mind to prioritise. When something pops up and I cant give 100% to my goals, I have this alternate routine ready. This may seem trivial, but it’s part of consciously prioritising Gypsy Joi Creations and of keeping to it steadily if I allow the fact that life happens (which it surely does) frustrate me I will surely feel unmotivated but I can absolutely reschedule and shuffle around times and figure out my approach to complete tasks dedicated to my work, Multitasking doing what I can when I can.

HAVE MOTIVATING SHORT-TERM GOALS

When I create I like to do multiple products with the same pattern with different fabrics this way I work through them all completing the project all at the same time start to finish. I want to complete a similar amount of the same products (for example Box Zipper Pouches) at the same time by setting a realistic goal for example:

🌼 Cutting all my fabrics from the same pattern (multiple fabrics)

🌼 Once I have all my patterns cut I start to prepare them ready to sew together (outer and inner materials, interfacing, zippers)

Have all my materials for my pattern ready prepped to sew.

🌼 Setting my goals from start to finish, Then complete my products step by step ready to sell.

🌼 Creating my description for Etsy and creating content for social media (by recording my progress and the steps I take to create my products)

🌼 Visual demonstrations help your audience to understand your process and to familiarise themselves with your unique style

LEARN A NEW TECHNIQUE

A practice can be easier to maintain when you’ve already established a direction. Sometimes though, it’s helpful to approach an idea from an alternative perspective, perhaps using tools, techniques or mediums you’re unfamiliar with or want to improve. Take a course, read a developmental book, or tutorials and how someone else uses the same medium as you is always an interesting and informative exploration. Whether in-class or online, these allies will allow you to touch base with other artists and get invaluable insight on your process.

These days you can find short courses that run for a day online with video assistance step by step to learn a new skill its all at your finger tips.

It is possible to create the kind of art you want to make and earn good money doing it. The web allows you to sell directly to your fans and reach new audiences of potential buyers. You can cut out the middleman and become the exclusive dealer of your own work. There is enormous potential in online art sales and with careful and strategic use of the Internet, the possibilities are limitless.
